This second post is about things that you need to do before you start traveling.
Traveller is not the same as tourist.
"The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see." -Gilbert K. Chesterton-
So basically before traveling, I used to plan. Plan my own itinerary.
Some traveller prefer to go unplanned, it is up to the individual.
For me, planning and also get to know a little about the places you're gonna explore might give you some ideas about how to survive there. Or maybe, just an excuse for me, as I'm not a kind of person who likes that kind of challenge. =)
My personal opinion, Lonely Planet is the best travel guide book. I have many of them, and I plan to get some more. Though I might can't go to every places, but at least I have knowledge about them.
After reading the travel guide book, you can try to make your own itinerary by considering some of factors.
What factors am I referring?
In example, there are certain places, that you should go during weekdays to prevent overcrowded, such as amusement park like Disneyland, and some of places you should go during weekend cause they might have some event during weekend right?
So try to make your itinerary according to that. Making the itinerary is not as simple as you think.
You have to know your ETA, your accommodation, your total duration of stays, and places that you want to go.
So, let me list the steps:
1) Buy flight tickets
2) Calculate your budgets
3) List all the interesting places you want to visit
4) Search for accommodation which located in the city
5) Book your accommodation
6) Do some research about places you want to visit, know the operating times of each place, entrance fee and transportation to go there.
7) Then, made your itinerary considering all the factors above.
Meet me again in next entry.
